Pumpkin Spice is Not for Everyone

OK so pumpkin spice season is officially upon us. What does that mean…here come the memes, the promotions, and all the pumpkin concoctions of recipes, drinks and crafts one can think of. Now for some of us, pumpkin spice is NOT working with our taste buds, so what can we do?

1) Apple Spice

Still want to be apart of the holiday spirit, then add a little apple spice instead.  It’s sweet and in season.  You can make apple pie or add apple spice to your drinks.  Use it the same amount as you would if you used pumpkin spice as it’s almost exactly the same spice.

2) Cinnamon

Want that sweet touch without the extra, then just add cinnamon. Cinnamon is already in pumpkin spice and apple spice so if you don’t want that pumpkin taste then just go with cinnamon on it’s own and everything will taste great.

3) Other Options

There are so many options to add to your drinks and meals to replace that not so tasty pumpkin spice are caramel, vanilla, pecan, or even mocha or chocolate.  It’s the holiday season and there are so many other ways to get away from that pumpkin spice but still feel like you’re part of the group.

Or here’s an idea – just don’t order it, attempt to make a pumpkin recipe, or use pumpkin in anything we don’t want to. I know, sounds rude and ominous and selfish. I’m here to tell you, it’s okay to be original and not go with the trend – you’re still VERY cool and it’s OK!
